God Opening Doors was founded on the belief that faith, service, and compassion can create lasting change. Our journey began on July 11, 2016, with a fact-finding mission to Haiti led by Dr. Nikongo BaNikongo of Howard University. This trip ignited a passion for service and laid the foundation for our organization. Just a few months later, on September 12, 2016, God Opening Doors was officially incorporated, marking the beginning of our commitment to serving communities in need. Our first mission trip took place from June 24 to July 1, 2017, in partnership with Abiding Faith Community Church (AFCC) and Haitian Christian Mission (HCM) in Fond Parisien, Haiti. From there, our impact grew coordinating multiple mission trips, launching the Shoes for Haiti Drive at Reid Temple AME Church, and transporting thousands of donated shoes to Haiti through cross-country U-Haul deliveries. By December 2018, we celebrated our work with the Inaugural Gala, reflecting on the lives we had touched. Even during challenges like the pandemic, we continued our mission, raising over $5,000 in August 2020 through the River of Rice Campaign with Give828 to provide essential food support. Through every step, God has opened doors, allowing us to serve, uplift, and bring hope to those in need.
At God Opening Doors, our mission is to uplift and empower underserved communities through education and support. We believe that every individual deserves access to resources that can change their lives.
We envision a future where every Haitian child has access to quality education, families have the resources they need to thrive, and communities can break the cycle of poverty through sustainable development.
